Anchor heavy objects to walls. Never place objects where they could fall on someone.

Make sure all family members know how to turn off
utilities.
·
Stay calm during an earthquake.
·
Stand inside in a doorway or get under a desk or table well
away from windows.
·
Outside stay away from power lines, buildings, trees or
other object that could fall.
·
If traveling, drive to a safe area away from overpasses and
underpasses. Stay
inside the vehicle.
·
After an earthquake, check to see if anyone is injured and
give first aid.
·
Do a safety check of utilities for leaks, downed power
lines, etc. Turn all utilities such as gas, electric, water and
sewage off.
·
Be sure you are wearing sturdy shoes and other appropriate
clothing.
·
Check the building for damage and clean up any hazardous
spills.
·
Turn on the radio to listen for emergency instructions from
local public safety officials.
·
Use the telephone for emergencies only.
